New player guide

Get into the game without the guesswork.

You will need Minecraft: Java Edition, a compatible modded launcher and the exact modpack version shown in LolCraft’s Discord.

How do I join LolCraft?

Join the official Discord, read the rules, choose a current server, install the pack version listed in the connection channel, then add that server’s lolcraft.co address in Minecraft multiplayer.

01

Enter the Discord

Use the official invite. Read the welcome and rules, then locate the server connection information. This is where version changes and maintenance notices are posted.

02

Install the right pack

Open the pack’s official page from the server directory. In your launcher, install the exact version listed by LolCraft rather than assuming the newest release.

03

Add and connect

Launch the pack, choose Multiplayer, add the matching server address and connect. If the versions do not match, recheck Discord before troubleshooting further.

Troubleshooting FAQ
Before launching

Your quick connection checklist.

  • Minecraft: Java Edition is installed and signed in
  • Your computer meets the modpack’s requirements
  • You have a compatible modded launcher
  • Your installed pack version matches Discord
  • You copied the address for the same pack
  • You have read the LolCraft community rules

New to modded Minecraft?

Large packs can need more memory and take longer to start than ordinary Minecraft. Do not allocate all of your computer’s RAM to the game, and expect the first launch to take a while.

If you hit a crash or connection error, share the pack name, pack version and exact error in Discord. That gives helpers something useful to work with.

Choose a launcher

Three good ways to run modpacks.

The right launcher depends on the pack. Whichever one you use, install the exact version shown in LolCraft Discord before connecting.

FTB App

The officially supported home for Feed The Beast modpacks. It can also browse CurseForge packs and provides per-pack Java and memory settings.

CurseForge

A straightforward choice for discovering, installing and updating packs published through the CurseForge catalogue.

Get CurseForge ↗

Prism Launcher

A flexible multi-instance launcher that can browse several pack sources and keep different Minecraft, Java and mod-loader setups separate.

Get Prism Launcher ↗
Pack compatibility comes first: some FTB releases are officially distributed through the FTB App, while other packs are easiest to install from CurseForge. Prism can browse or import several sources, but availability can differ. Check the LolCraft connection information for any pack-specific launcher note.
Common connection problems

Check the simple things first.

“Incompatible version” or missing mods

Your local pack likely does not match the server. Compare the full version number with the one listed in Discord and reinstall or change profile if needed.

The server address will not connect

Confirm you copied the address for the same modpack, check for a maintenance notice and try again without extra spaces.

The game runs out of memory

Review the pack’s recommended RAM and adjust the launcher profile. Keep enough memory free for Windows and other applications.

I do not know which launcher to use

Use the FTB App for official FTB releases, CurseForge for packs published through its catalogue, or Prism when you want separate instances and the pack is available or importable there. Discord can confirm any pack-specific requirement.

Step one

Open Discord and meet the people you’ll play with.

The current versions, notices and community help all live there.
